I have been teaching at a high poverty school in Indianapolis since 1990. I have my bachelor's of science degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University and my master's degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders, and I was the instructional coach for ten years as well. Teaching has always been my passion, and I love to see my students reach their fullest potential. Now I help educate future teachers as a professor at UIndy!
I am married to my husband, Mike, and we have 3 children. My oldest, Allison, graduated from Indiana University. She began her teaching career in Pre-K and now teachers kindergarten in Chicago. My daughter, Katelyn graduated from Ball State with a business degree in marketing and minor in Spanish. She completed her MBA, and works for a diabetes company in San Diego. She recently moved back to Indiana and works remotely. She is married to our son-in-law, Daniel, who is a college football coach. They have our two beautiful granddaughters. My youngest, Kyle, graduated from Ball State majoring in telecommunications. He completed an internship at WTHR Channel 13 News, and is now working remotely for an IT company.
